Music

Flexible & Inspiring Music Education for Every Student

Our Music programme offers Cognita students the opportunity to have 1:1 peripatetic instrument or vocal lessons during school hours as well as outside of school time. This flexibility ensures that all students can fit music lessons into their schedules without compromising their academic commitments.

Scheduling

Lessons can be booked at various times through our booking platform ‘Classcard’:

  • Before the School Day: Ideal for early risers who want to start their day with music.

  • During the School Day: Scheduled on a rotational basis to avoid missing classroom learning.

  • After School Hours: Perfect for those who prefer to engage in music lessons after completing their school day.

Range of Instruments and Vocal Lessons

We offer a wide range of instruments from all instrument groups, as well as vocal lessons. Whether your child is interested in strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, or voice, we have a lesson for them!

Focus on Theory and Practical Skills

Our instrument lessons are designed to ensure students develop a comprehensive understanding of both music theory and practical skills. Students have the option to play for pleasure or to work towards graded exams.

Expert Tutors

Our tutors are carefully selected for their expertise and dedication. Each tutor is an expert in their field, committed to excellence and passionate about teaching. They build positive relationships with students, fostering an environment where students can progress and truly enjoy their lessons.

LAMDA Musical Theatre and Public Speaking

In addition to our music lessons, we also offer LAMDA Musical Theatre and LAMDA Public Speaking and Drama classes. The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) is a prestigious organization that provides qualifications in performance and communication.

Our LAMDA classes focus on:

  • Musical Theatre: Combining singing, acting, and movement, these classes help students develop their performance skills in a comprehensive way.

  • Public Speaking and Drama: These classes enhance students' confidence, communication skills, and dramatic abilities, preparing them for a variety of performance and speaking opportunities.

Performance Opportunities

Students have the chance to perform throughout the year at various events, ranging from mini community performances to larger staged events. These opportunities allow students to showcase their progress and enjoy the experience of performing in front of an audience.

Group Lessons

We also offer group lessons ranging from vocal choirs to rock bands. In these settings, students work together towards a shared goal, building up to a performance. These group activities foster teamwork and provide a fun, collaborative environment for musical growth.

By joining our Music programme, students not only learn to play an instrument or improve their vocal skills but also develop a deeper appreciation for music, build confidence, and enjoy the joy of performing.
